While he appeared to be friendly at first, he learns of the Traveler's identity as the Honorary Knight and tries to strike them down, only to be stopped by Mona, who realized his intentions and helped the Traveler escape just in time. Scaramouche becomes the Wanderer as a result, though his new life of wandering only made him crave a purpose. His efforts however only led to Teyvat forgetting him and his history rather than directly changing any past event. Following his defeat, he falls into a comatose state and is hidden away by Lesser Lord Kusanali.Īfter recovering and learning that Dottore was responsible for the Tatarasuna incident, Scaramouche erases all information of his entire existence from Irminsul, hoping to change the past and give his friends of the past a second chance in life. He becomes a major antagonist in Sumeru during Chapter III, where he serves as the climactic boss battle in the form of Shouki no Kami, an artificial god. He makes his next appearance in Inazuma during Chapter II of the Archon Quests as a minor antagonist, where he helps the Fatui sow conflict between the Shogunate and the Watatsumi Army. Scaramouche first appeared as an antagonist in the Version 1.1 event Unreconciled Stars. Fatui Harbinger Il Dottore made some adjustments to the prototype, not only unsealing his power, but very likely rendering him even more formidable than his original specifications, and the object of divine creation after that became known as "The Balladeer". After awakening, he wandered Inazuma as an ordinary human male, with his own consciousness, until the Fatui took interest on him. However, Ei decided not to intervene in his fate, and in the end, she chose only to seal the power within him and set him free after leaving him in a slumbering state in Shakkei Pavilion.
